The Science Park
The Science and Technology Park “Luigi Danieli” in Udine spreads over more than 50,000 square metres: a green area of 45,000 sq. m, a built area of 2,700 sq. m , more than 1,500 sq. m of parking space. Offices and labs surrounded by nature, architecture in balance with ideas and environment, meeting rooms and conference rooms, space for training and culture.
A functional, modern structure comprising a series of buildings arranged in a symmetrical herring-bone pattern on either side of a central spine. At the centre of Europe, in the heart of a region with a vocation for innovation and integration, in the ZIU (Zona Industriale Udinese) industrial area only a few minutes from the European motorway network and within easy reach of several international airports (Trieste, Venice, Ljubljana, Klagenfurt). A Park within the park, where there is space for new ideas. The Park Expansion Project is currently acquiring more than 30,000 square metres of new land and building new facilities with a roof area of more than 3,000 square metres. The Project is scheduled for completion before the end of 2010. The Science Park is under the management of Friuli Innovazione, Research Center and Technolgy Transfer, and funded by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia by law 11/03 for innovation. The park is named after “Luigi Danieli”, a very important entrepreneur in Friuli.
